Raven Ridge Fiber Arts.....Lambent

Late last season a lovely woman from Montana stopped in and dropped off information on her hand-painted fiber.  I love fingering weight yarn and her Lambent, 437 yards 50% merino 50% silk fingering weight, caught my eye.  We decided to bring in a few skeins late in the fall.
This fiber's beauty is truly brought out in her dyeing.  She has such an eye for combining colors and rightly naming them things like Mountain Bluebird, Sage Meadows, Indian Paintbrush, Aspen Bark and Zinnias from the Market.  We just received an order of 36 skeins and in one day we sold 11!  I am working on a shawl called Cilantro (ravelry.com) and am enjoying every stitch of this dreamy yarn.
We will, undoubtedly, be ordering more of this yarn as we are in full swing of tourist season.  This is a special yarn that you can't find everywhere.  We get knitters in everyday that ask what we have that is local.  Although Raven Ridge is not technically "local", I still eagerly point out this hard to find yarn since it only comes from 6 beautiful hours away.
Bottom line, this is a wonderful mixed fiber beautifully dyed regionally and cost less than a silly Jackson Hole sweatshirt.  Lambent would really be your perfect souvenir from the Tetons!

A yarn called Jackson

When I discovered Mountain Meadow Wool Mill in Buffalo WY, I knew it would be love.  We started carrying their mountain merino wool rightly named Jackson.  This yarn is dreamy.  It has that beautiful hand that natural spun yarn should have.  I can only describe it as "squishy".  It has excellent stitch definition for a natural spun, and the hand paint doesn't seem to be pooling anything horrible.  I've knit a few accesories out of it since one skein of 262 yards will do a hat and matching "Luna Lover" fingerless mitts all for $18.  Right?  A skein of yarn that is ranched in WY, milled in WY and dyed in WY all at an affordable price.  I call that a win.
I am now onto a top-down cardigan in colorway Night.  It's a beautiful mix of deep purple, wine, chocolate, a touch of blue, topaz and green.  This colorway just reminds me of camping down on the Greys River just south of Jackson.  I'm knitting in seed stitch on the shoulders and sleeves just to give what would be a boring knit, some life.
Bottom line:

I love this yarn.
I love this small company.
and I want to knit everything in it!
